12 Gospel Revolutions

Jesus lived an incarnational life on earth that rocks our planet to this day with revelation and revolution.  Jesus reveals God the Father best (Heb. 1:1-3; Col. 2:9; John 14:9) and by bringing his world from heaven with him in the gospel, he launched many revolutions in his pattern of ministry that still unseats and overcomes the world.

Jesus exhibits relentless innovation from the culture of heaven as a great new wine maker, and some new wineskins were needed for the fullness of his life to be embraced.  (Lk. 5:37-38). In an effort to share in the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, this gospel of the kingdom of heaven, explore these expanding circles of “blessing upon blessing” (John 1:16) that follow.

12 Disciple Shifts:  12 Ongoing Revolutions

Disciples of Jesus know the purpose of living Gospel-saturated lives: to continue the revolution Jesus started 2000 years ago.  The calibration of high invitation and high challenge from Jesus results in deep, rapid and lasting change.  From Kingdom of heaven “fullness” in us we bring fullness into our world.  We need to avoid the opposite in the shrinking thinking and practices that result in diminishing numbers of disciples, churches and gospel movements of transformation.

The fullness of the Gospel is revealed supremely in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.  Jesus reveals the Father best.  These six hinges of history leverage change in every direction globally to this hour:

  • The Life of Jesus

  • The Death of Jesus

  • The Resurrection of Jesus

  • The Ascension of Jesus

  • The Pouring Out of the Holy Spirit through Jesus.

  • The Second Coming of Jesus

The following 12 disciple shifts are good news revolutions launched by Jesus.  Disciples become like Jesus in all we think, say and do by the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

  1. Love revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice in his incarnational-missional pattern of ministry to people.  He is known as a friend of sinners.  He neither condemns nor condones, but connects in transformational love.  He calibrates high invitation and high challenge for deep change.

  2. Healing revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice in demonstrating that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, and join in his remarkable compassion for people and passion to do the will of the Father.  The very same Holy Spirit who empowered Jesus’ earthly ministry in the Bible to heal all who came to him in response to the gospel is available in the same way to us as members of the Body of Christ now on earth.

  3. Deliverance revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice as he sets the captives free and breaks the bondage of fallen angels working against humanity.  Learn a full range of victory inducing responses to our adversary, the devil, and his forces of spiritual darkness.

  4. Discipleship revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice by being baptized in water as a disciple, and join the global movement of great revival and awakening in our lands.  Learn to live and love like Jesus in all his revealed will and ways in Scripture.

  5. Forgiveness revolution.   Follow Jesus as an apprentice where the cross leads us so well.  Jesus demonstrates unconditional love and ability to cancel the curse of sin.  He launches a forgiveness revolution in his followers that is increasing to this day.

  6. Reconciliation revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice where the cross breaks down every dividing wall of hostility and prejudice.  Join the saints as an eschatological new humanity on earth drawn from every tribe and tongue into one body.

  7. Life revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice into a present reality lived under his resurrection power, blessing and victory.  Where hell comes to steal, kill and destroy, Jesus in his resurrection comes to bring abundant life.   In Jesus, death has even been swallowed up in victory, and we will join Jesus in resurrection bodies in the end as well.

  8. Worship revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice who would not yield to the devil’s lie but instead said, “Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”  Displace the devil and declare the praises of the living God who brought you out of darkness into his marvelous light.  Worthy is the Lamb to receive our prayers and praise, honor and blessing.

  9. Authority revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice into “every square inch” of creation which he claims as “Mine”.  Walk under his ascension authority (all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me…) into all seven spheres of culture creating influence.

  10. Leadership revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice as he calls and sends equipping leaders for the church to mobilize the mission of God with ascension gifts, like unto Jesus’ own heart and ways.

  11. Ability revolution.  Follow Jesus as an apprentice since Jesus was baptized in the Holy Spirit for effective Kingdom ministry and follow Him as the promised One who baptizes us in the Holy Spirit.

Accountability revolution. Follow Jesus as an apprentice where He entrusts his Kingdom resources to us as stewards, and we experience supernatural supply under his supernatural ownership of it all. The second coming of Jesus assures us that the man whom God raised from the dead has been appointed as Judge of the living and the dead.
