Position: Student Ministry Intern

We need a fun, responsible, Jesus-follower college student or twenty-something to help lead our 6th-12th grade youth groups.

FRCP is a church in transition. Two and half years ago, when Senior Pastor Kyle Douglass returned to lead the church he was raised in and first served as a youth pastor, the church was platuaed and down to only a handful of families with students with zero programs for middle and high school students. Student Ministry was a first priority and the first intern position was created and filled by a young man named Hayden who built a youth program with average meeting attendance of 5-10 middle schoolers and 10-20 high schoolers every week. We now have two to three pews (yes, pews) of young people who sit down front every Sunday morning. Average Sunday morning attendance has grown from 75 to 150 and we've baptized eight students over the past two years. We are looking for the next intern (or part-time staff member) to build on this momentum and continue to connect relationally with students and their families at First.

This internship position is paid (not a lot but probably better than most college jobs) and for a male intern comes with a free room in the church's parsonage across the parking lot from the church (there are other male interns living in the house). We are open to exploring opportunities for female applicants interested in housing. Interns are asked to donate a share of the utilities. Interns and staff meet regularly with the senior pastor for check-ins and discipleship and get a variety of experiences with different aspects of serving.

The hourly commitment is 15-20 hours per week, which includes personal study, planning, meetings, Sunday services, and youth group. The schedule is flexible and requires a person who can manage their own time well. It will also include a discipleship retreat and planned time off.
