Position: Full-Time Youth Director
Status: One Full-Time Position or Two Part-Time Positions (Middle School Director and High School Director)
Reports to: Executive Team of the Overisel Reformed Church Consistory
Purpose: Overisel Reformed Church is seeking a Director of Youth who has a passion for the discipleship of youth ministry. The Director of Youth is responsible for the planning and execution of the youth ministry with a primary target of grades 6-12 and a secondary target of post-high and college-aged students.
Qualifications:
Demonstrates a deep personal relationship with God. Has publicly professed Jesus as his / her Lord and Savior.
Demonstrates an acceptance and strong knowledge of the Bible.
Has knowledge of and agreement with the beliefs and practices of the Alliance of Reformed Churches, to which Overisel Reformed Church belongs.
Has a commitment to supporting and modeling the Know, Live, Give mission of Overisel Reformed Church.
Will be an active member of Overisel Reformed Church while employed.
Demonstrates organizational skills and communicates effectively with church staff, parents, and the broader church community.
Has the ability to develop and deliver relevant and meaningful scripture-based lessons tailored to the age-appropriate audience.
Able to complete and pass a background check.
Accountability:
The Director of Youth works under the supervision of the Executive Team of the Consistory.
The Director of Youth is expected to collaborate, communicate, and report to appointed council members and committees.
The Director of Youth will annually submit the overall ministry plan and budget for the upcoming year to the deacons.
The Director of Youth will quarterly submit ministry reports to the elders and expense reports to the deacons.
The Director of Youth will perform consistent self and program reflection to evaluate the current ministry's effectiveness and identify areas of improvement, asking for guidance when needed.
The Director of Youth will regularly meet with the pastoral staff to provide mutual encouragement.
The Director of Youth will engage in annual performance reviews with the Executive Team.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Director of Youth will be the primary facilitator and leader for Overisel Reformed Church’s youth and youth volunteers.
The Director of Youth will develop an annual schedule of events that includes but is not limited to weekly youth ministry programming for grades 6-12, annual mission trips, and local outreach.
Wednesday evenings, grades 6-8. Approximately 35-40 students attend weekly.
Sunday evenings, grades 9-12. Approximately 25-30 students attend weekly.
Provide small group opportunities focused on the discipleship of the students toward spiritual maturity.
Coordinate social events for both youth groups throughout the year, including summer.
Collaborate with the ORC staff, volunteers, and various committees to coordinate church-wide activities, including but not limited to fundraisers and mission trips.
The Director of Youth will communicate effectively.
This includes but is not limited to providing updates to the congregation and communicating with parents through email and messaging platforms regarding youth ministry schedules, events, and important announcements.
The Director of Youth will be available to all youth seeking to develop their spiritual growth and meaningful relationships.
Encouragement on a regular basis, attendance of extracurricular activities, and provide support in times of special needs identified by volunteer youth staff or parents.
The Director of Youth will ensure student safety and logistical control (transportation, permission slips, etc.) at all times.
The Director of Youth will serve as a member of the Education Ministry Team.
The Director of Youth will serve as the ORC liaison to community churches.
The Director of Youth will assist the pastoral staff in the organization of the Profession of Faith mentorship process.
The Director of Youth will participate in all relevant church and community activities. Including but not limited to VBS and Sunday School programming.
