David Rylaarsdam

Director of Pathways

David serves as the Director of Pathways, the ordination and licensing program of the Alliance of Reformed Churches. David grew up in Iowa, graduating from Dordt College and Calvin Seminary. After serving Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church, he completed a PhD in the early history of Christianity at the University of Notre Dame.  David taught at Dordt College and has been a faculty member at Calvin Seminary since 2008. He also teaches in prison and mentors students in Calvin’s competency-based education program. A driving question in David’s years of ministry is: How can a Christian community best form disciples and leaders for a Christian way of life? David is married to Rachele, who is a school counselor. Together, they enjoy camping, cross-cultural travel, and visiting their three married children and one grandchild.
