Joel Baar has served two terms as an Elder and Vice-President of Consistory at Fellowship Reformed Church of Hudsonville (MI). He previously served as a Deacon at Fellowship, and as a Deacon at Harvest Community Church, a Christian Reformed Church in Lake Odessa (MI). Joel is the founding partner of Baar & Lichterman, PLLC, a business, real estate and estate planning law firm located in Grandville, MI. In 1995, Joel graduated from the Honors Program at Grand Valley State University, and then graduated, magna cum laude, in 1998 from the Valparaiso University School of Law. While in law school, Joel interned for the Honorable Kenneth F. Ripple of the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit (Chicago).
Joel has been married to Renee for 25+ years. They have 3 children – Quinn, Bryce and Noelle. The Baar Family enjoys vacationing and hiking “Up North”, mainly around Sleeping Bear Dunes, but also in the Keweenaw Peninsula of the Upper Peninsula. Joel gives thanks for the many faith influencers in his life. It is an honor to serve – and a joy to meet so many faithful followers of Christ along this path together.
