The vision of First Presbyterian is to find a pastor that has a vision to, with the help of Jesus, reach out and equip the congregation to share God’s love with the community.
First Presbyterian Church is a small congregation of between 101-250 members in a small rural town of 1,214 people. The congregation desires a pastor who loves to teach from Gods word. A pastor who can teach bible-based sermons that is relatable to his congregation and the small-town environment of Britton, SD.
The congregation is of all ages and desires to work alongside the pastor in all areas of ministry. As of now the First Presbyterian organizations are as follows;
Youth group, led by congregation members.
Youth Sunday school, taught by congregation members, average number of kids 10-15
Presbyterian Women’s Circle (PWC)
Church boards:
Session. 9 Elders, 8 Trustees
Session Committees. Faith & Nurture, Faith & Calling, Faith & Practice, made up of congregation members.
Church secretary part-time
Church Janitor part-time
First Presbyterian has one worship service at 10:00 am. The average attendance is 65-75 people with others watching our service through our Facebook page, First Presbyterian Church of Britton. Worship is followed by coffee/juice fellowship.
Because First Presbyterian is in a small town, we are very committed not only to the church but to the community of Britton. Seven percent of the mission budget goes to support local project such as the Food Pantry, Backpack Program, and youth events. Four percent goes to Presbyterian mission. Our hope is that the pastor will also have a desire to live and be involved in all that a small town has to offer. The town of Britton is a progressive town and I encourage you to visit the Britton town Web Page, brittonsouthdakota.com
