General Purpose of Position:
The purpose of the Director of Youth and Young Adults at Trinity Church is to build disciples for Christ by developing and implementing an approach to ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.

The candidate will be primarily responsible for school programs (6-12), as well as coordinate College age / Young Adults programs & activities.

Qualifications and Position Requirements
-The Director of Youth and Young Adults must have a love for God, a love for teenagers / young adults, and a pastoral heart to see them grow in their relationship with Christ.
-Person must be an evangelical Christian knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
-Person must have an understanding of God’s Word, the Holy Bible, and is in agreement with the theology of the Reformed Faith and the doctrines of Trinity Church.
-Person must be an engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with the Trinity Church vision statement.
-Person must be able to clearly articulate the gospel message.
-Person can teach both deep theology and topical lessons relating to aspects of the youth/young adult life.
-Person supports, and is willing to adhere to, the Trinity statement on marriage and sexuality.
-Person can relate to people of all ages, especially Youth & Young Adults.
-Person has the ability, self-motivation, and enthusiasm to minister.
-Person is or is willing to become a member of Trinity Church.
-The Director of Youth and Young Adults must have the ability and willingness to:
• Recruit, disciple, and sustain a team of volunteer leaders
• Teach and equip youth and leaders in small and large settings
• Communicate well with parents and/or guardians
• Communicate well with church leaders, youth ministry team and members
• Relate to the unique needs of teenagers in today’s culture and willingness to talk about the “hard stuff”
-Person will preferably have attained a post-secondary degree (preference for a focus in education or youth ministry).

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
-Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate ministries for Junior and Senior High youth
● Sunday night meetings
● Wednesday night Bible studies
● Summer mission trips
● Local mission and service opportunities
● Work with the Director of Children & Family Ministries to coordinate programming for grades 6-8 on Wednesday night and Sunday School
● Responsible for coordinating programming for grades 9-12 during Sunday School
● Coordinate inter-generational discipleship opportunities with Adult Discipleship Director
● Work with the Director of Children & Family Ministries to intentionally equip parents to nurture their youth’s faith and spiritual growth.

-Organize discipleship opportunities with volunteer coordinators for College Age and Young Adults.
-Invite youth to come to Christ and help follow Him for a lifetime of ministry and service.
-Encourage, educate, and mentor young people in their profession of faith journey.
-Encourage personal daily Bible study and the formation of student led Bible study groups.
-Oversee the expenditures of the budget allocated towards the designated ministries.
-Oversee fund-raising efforts for youth ministries trips including maintaining current activities such as Tulip Time parking.
-Spend time with youth in extra-curricular events on their own “turf”.
-Other duties as required.

Expectations
-Stay current with youth ministry practices by reading, collaborating with other local youth leaders, etc.
-Participate in a yearly job performance review.
-Present a yearly budget proposal for designated ministries.
-Establish & communicate office hours and availability for youth.
-Collaborate with other youth groups, Teens Encounter Christ, and other Christian organizations.
-Collaborate with church staff on programming & activities.
-Gather input and feedback from youth and volunteers on a regular basis.
-Connect / integrate youth and young adults with our church body.
-Preferable to reside (or be willing to relocate) within the Pella area.
